Bryson Gill Artist Statement

Centered in painting, a large part of Bryson Gill's work is a dialog of surface, color and form that shifts between representational and abstract imagery. He's interested in a subtle humor that is both ironic and sincere. Many of the references in his recent work are of historical objects that can be found in museums and catalogs or culled from current but ephemeral events. He has most recently been making curious objects inspired by forms in his paintings. When making them, he considers their texture, color, and shape to be site specific in context with the architectural spaces in which they are exhibited.
